Dr. Zechariah Haber OB"M was born in the USA to Aharon and Miriam and immigrated to Israel with his family when he was 8 years old. He was the eldest of four brothers.
After high school, he studied at the Hesder Yeshiva Har Etzion  in Alon Shvut ("the Gush") and as part of the Hesder program, he served in the Tank Corps and became a tank commander.
After finishing the program, he completed two degrees in Plant Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Hebrew University in Rehovot, and while studying, he married his wife Talia and they started a wonderful family. He started a doctorate at Tel Aviv University in the field of growing wheat under drought conditions and had already identified the wheat gene responsible for the size of the seeds. On January 9th, 2024 Tel Aviv University awarded Zechariah a PhD. posthumously for his groundbreaking research.
On October 8, 2023 he was drafted into the reserves and served as a tank loader until he fell in Gaza on January 16, 2024.
Zechariah was humble, brilliant, hardworking and always put his family first. He strongly believed in religious Zionism and living in Israel. He left behind his parents, 3 brothers, wife, 3 children and friends and extended family.​
